🔥🍁Spicy Sesame Maple Salmon🍁🔥I love using maple syrup in savoury dishes, as it adds depth, richness, and complexity - all recipes need a little sweetness to balance things out! This super luscious, spicy-sweet sesame maple salmon is the best example of that. Maple syrup blends with umami-bomb tamari, garlic, and cayenne to make a sticky glaze that hits all the notes. I love the sesame crust too, which add a nutty, delicate crunch to the tender fish.This is my newest recipe, just posted on the Grow membership site. 🪺Better-for-You Peanut Butter Chocolate Eggs🥜🍫I don’t know about you, but I’m in need of some serious whimsy. So I made naturally-coloured peanut butter and chocolate easter eggs, because it felt like the best way to soothe my mind and body💆🏼‍♀️I’m quite proud of this recipe, as the treats turned out to be just as satisfying with those infamous peanut butter eggs, but sweetened with maple syrup, dyed with whole foods, and offering more protein and fibre than the ones you pick up at the corner store. Plus, they are so cute! Look at those pastels and speckles! Haha, just call me Martha💁🏼‍♀️🌸🪺Better-for-You Peanut Butter Chocolate EggsMakes 301 cup / 100g peanut butter flour / powdered peanut butter1/2 cup / 125ml / 135g creamy, unsweetened peanut butter 2-3 Tbsp. pure maple syrup, to taste1/2 tsp. fine sea salt, to taste ~ Fold the above ingredients together in a bowl until thoroughly combined. The mixture should be crumbly, but hold together nicely when pressed. If not, add more peanut butter or maple syrup, as needed. Form 10g / .3 oz spoonfuls into eggs shapes (you will get about 30 in total). 100g white chocolate, roughly chopped 1 Tbsp. Coconut oil ~ In a double-boiler over medium-high heat, melt the chocolate and coconut oil together. Stir well.~ To tint the white chocolate, divide in quarters and add a pinch:Matcha - greenTurmeric - yellow Freeze-dried raspberry powder - pinkBlue spirulina - blue ~ Dip each egg one by one, and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet or cutting board.Brown speckle 1/4 tsp. raw cacao powderA few drops of water, just enough to make a thin, brown “paint”~ Dip a pastry brush into the paint, then flick over the eggs to create small droplets. Glow Getter Lemon Loaf✨🍋Spring weather is around the corner and I have been craving something light, bright and tangy to match the energy I feel in the air - a slice of classic lemon loaf! A ray of light on the tongue, and nutrient-dense in the body, my renewed version delivers health-supportive fats, 7g of protein per slice, and natural sugars - a lemon loaf that gives you the glow from within💁🏼‍♀️💫This recipe took many attempts to perfect, but I feel like I finally got it. Instead of a traditional, cake-y texture, I was going for something more substantial to *actually* fill me up, and the results are super satisfying, moist, and lemon-y. ☀️Today is the first day of Spring here in the Northern hemisphere and I wanted to take a moment, a breath, to acknowledge the Winter and all of the magic that has been held within it. I went deep this season, into the quiet of my heart in the loud world. In the chaos of so much unraveling, somehow, I kept getting out of bed (like you), and caring for my family, my community, tending the fires of what is meant to burn, and protecting the things that are meant to be saved. Planting seeds of peace in my mind that will be watered by the coming rains, and praying one person’s loving vision can be shared by many. That the disorientation so many of us are feeling will be replaced by a remembrance of oneness. I am just one person, but that is where it begins. In the stillness of Winter I remembered that presence is where real shifts are born. No amount of rage or desperation will change others - it is a forever conversation within ourselves alone.And so, as the sun returns and the Earth unfurls, I pray that it will illuminate the places inside of me that still need to be cared for, so that I may care more deeply for others. May the compassion I long to see in the world, be cultivated through my actions. And may my little life be an instrument for the forces of good in this world. Thank you for being here. I love you. 🤎Pistachio Date Cardamom Cookies - they’re here! A fragrant, nutty, chewy cookie made from whole food ingredients, sweetened with dates with no grains or gluten. They are so fast to make, but I know they won’t last long in your kitchen🤭Cardamom is one of my favourite spices, not just for its unique, peppery-citrus flavour, but its health benefits. Rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds, cardamom helps combat oxidative stress and may reduce chronic inflammation in the body. Cardamom has been shown to support heart health by helping lower blood pressure, improving cholesterol markers, and acting as a gentle diuretic. Emerging research also suggests it may aid metabolic health by improving insulin sensitivity and supporting blood sugar balance.Traditionally valued as a digestive aid, cardamom can help relieve bloating, gas, and nausea by stimulating digestive enzymes. Its natural antibacterial properties also promote oral health, helping combat bad breath and harmful bacteria in the mouth. Smoky Chipotle Chicken, Bean and Tortilla Soup🔥 The latest recipe on Grow!Having just returned home from my travels in Mexico, I feel so inspired by the flavours and textures and layers of complexity in everything that I ate there. This recipe nods to Caldo Tlalpeño, and Sopa de Tortilla, but is my own interpretation with a rich, tomato-y broth, and generously spiced with jalapeños and chipotles. I’ve also included both black beans and garbanzos (chickpeas) for added fibre, protein, and satiety. Served with toasted tortilla strips, a generous heap of cilantro and squeeze of lime, it hits allllll the notes🤤This is a stupendous meal-prep recipe, making six generous servings so you can cook once and eat well through the week ahead🍲The recipe is now available on Grow, my membership site. I think we could all use that 💛Here’s my latest recipe offering, Double-Pea Cauliflower Soup, made with yellow split peas and sweet green peas, bridging the gap between winter and spring. It is deeply spiced with black mustard seeds, fennel, cumin, and coriander, with bright lemon and creamy coconut milk😋🫛Peas, both yellow split peas and green peas, are rich in a diverse blend of fibres that support whole-body health. They provide substantial soluble fibre, which forms a gentle gel in the gut, helping regulate blood sugar and lower LDL cholesterol while nourishing beneficial microbes. They also contain plenty of insoluble fibre, which adds bulk and promotes smooth, regular digestion. In addition, peas offer a modest amount of resistant starch, especially when cooked and cooled, which ferments in the colon to produce gut-healing short-chain fatty acids like butyrate. Together, this trio makes peas exceptionally supportive for metabolic balance, satiety, and microbiome diversity.Loaded with fibre and protein, this soup fills your belly and fuels your body.
