How to make healthy choices every day

New Beginnings

Welcome to My New Roots!

There has never been a more critical time to take charge of our own health. The more we learn about nutrition, the better prepared we will be to take an active role. And while the interest in personal health is certainly on the rise, we are bombarded on a daily basis with misinformation about what is healthy, supportive and beneficial to our bodies. Who can we trust to give us clear and honest answers about our health? A natural foods diet is the key to good health and life-long wellbeing, but how do we put this information into practice?
The purpose of this blog is to educate and inspire you about health and well being from a non-biased perspective. As a Holistic Nutritionist I am constantly exploring, creating and learning about new foods and products that are healthy for the body and the environment. I want to share these discoveries with you. I encourage you to visit My New Roots to ask questions, share ideas, find inspiration and steal a recipe or two. You can make small changes in your days to create big changes in your life. Spread the word and let your new roots grow.

    • Nice Post
Having been healed through a natural foods diet as a child (along with reflexology), I’m such a strong believer… especially after seeing my own doctor’s mouth drop, not knowing what to say after realizing that I was just cured of “a disease I was supposed to have forever.”

  • Hello Sarah,
I have been reading your blog for quite a while now and have to say it has opened my eyes to how consuming simple organic nutrition does not in itself just alter ones diet but changes the way one lives their life. With processed foods easily at hand and the busyness of our modern lifestyles having time to prepare this food is the one of the main reasons besides lack of knowledge many struggle to change the way they live and eat. I have realized through much research and realization that making this change is very detrimental.
I am on my schools track and cross country team and in search for the best nutrition for hardcore athletes came upon this blog. I have to say after sharing it with my entire team it has changed my team mate’s views on food significantly and excited to make this life change together. We are having a hard time with our families getting on the band wagon and to parents make it seem like we are picky eaters and dealing with the different appetites of our siblings as well as our parents themselves not wanting to be healthy, when in reality we have a right to our health!!! So my first question is how did you make this change in your life? Gradually or like clean out the whole pantry and start new deal? What would be the best way to start making everything from scratch? We already don not eat white grains and such we are just trying to go organic, whole, and preservative free. PLEASE HELP I AM TAKING THIS ON THIS SUMMER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • “Go, Go, Go Gerl!” my mama’s cheering out loud, right next to me. We’re both very proud of you.

  • Sarah,

Congratulations on My New Roots! Now its time to put this wonderful little piece of information technology to work and spread the good word of your holistic healing.

I am faced with the challenge of losing between 7-10 pounds in a little less than a month as I prepare for a competition with weight restrictions. I want to achieve my weight target as comfortably and “holistically” as possible; meaning I want to lose a lot of weight quickly, but not do it in a way that is unhealthy or unnatural.

Please help me find the way forward!
